Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Primary School comprises of 205 students from Kindergarten to Year 7 serving the Parish Communities of Dardanup and Boyanup.  The school provides enriched opportunities so that all children may develop to their full potential – Spiritually; Intellectually; Physically; Socially and Emotionally. 

 

Our Lady of Lourdes Primary School has undertaken the RAISe (Raising Achievement in Schools) initiative, designed to provide teachers with greater Professional Learning opportunities ensuring all students reach their learning potential.  The school is also involved in the National Partnership Program and the Quality Catholic Schools Project.  These initiatives ensure positive learning outcomes, and enhanced pastoral care for all students and staff. The school offers a comprehensive curriculum, with support and extension opportunities across all grades. 

 

Our Lady of Lourdes Primary School assists in preparing each child to contribute positively to their local communities, having a particular awareness of the needs of, and responsibility to, the wider church.  The school enjoys outstanding support from the parents and wider community.  It is widely recognised and appreciated as a community based school.

 

The school provides students with opportunities for participation in various extra-curricular activities such as The Combined Schools Music Festival, the Leonardo Day Science Project, Interschool Athletics Carnivals, Winter Sports Carnivals, camps and excursions.

 

Our Lady of Lourdes prides itself as a place where Christ-Like values are the core of our learning, where each person is valued and where all are welcome.  The school’s motto is “Multae Mentes Cor Unum” which means, “Many Minds, One Heart”.

The results reflect the teacher’s assessments, and the school is currently undertaking an Action Learning project on how to improve all student’s spelling and their use of grammar within their writing tasks.

It should be noted that except for two occasions, all means by OLOL students are above the national standard. In Year 5 the mean only slightly below in Grammar and Punctuation and in Spelling the mean was equal.

 

Value Added

Our Lady of Lourdes offers a wide range of opportunities outside of the classroom, which allow students to grow and develop. Such activities include:

 

·         Parish-School Sacramental Programmes

·         Class Masses/Liturgies and Reconciliation

·         Catechists program to prepare students outside the school for the sacraments

·         Student Council organised events for fundraising for community causes –Caritas, Project Compassion

·         Whole School Prayer during after lunch assemblies.

·         Staff Meetings, PLC Meetings and Staff Prayer

·         Student Leaders – All Year 7 students participate in Leadership committees in the areas of:  Christian Service and Social Justice, Sport, Students Well-being and Pastoral Care, Environment.

·         Students preparing to become Altar Servers (Years 4 – 7) and participating in Parish Youth Group.

·         Senior Camp for year 7 – Ern Halliday Recreational Camp

·         Year 6 overnight leadership and adventure camp

·         Excursions e.g. Dolphin Discovery Centre, 

·         Incursions – All students attend 2 incursions per year

·         Special Weeks of Celebrations: Holy Week – Stations of the Cross, Book Week, Anzac Services at school and representation at Local community level.
