Dear Parents and Community Members,
A Father’s Day Prayer
God our Father in heaven,
Bless all the fathers in the world.
We ask that you guide them
to be good role models and loving to their children.
We also ask that you help them to be a father like you are.
Give them grace and patience to handle situations in a loving way.
Amen
Book Week – Reading is my Super power
Last Thursday week we celebrated Children’s Book Council of Australia ‘Book Week’. Students had the opportunity to dress as a book character to showcase a range of books, old and new for a parade during our morning Assembly. It was a great morning and we are constantly amazed at the creativity and ingenuity of our parents and students in the representation of characters. Pre-Kindy students also dressed up on Wednesday. See photos in gallery.
P&F Update
Next meeting is this evening at 6.30pm in the Staff Room. All welcome.
The Father’s Day breakfast last Friday was another extremely successful event and we sincerely thank our P&F committee and the Year 6 parent representatives for their organisation. Over 200 people attended, which exceeded our expectations and delighted us. Thank you to all who attended, it was a wonderful morning.

School Board
We have several Board members coming to the end of their term, or their youngest children are finishing at our school, so there will be a few vacancies for new Board Members in 2020. Please consider this as a way to be involved in our school. Meetings are held twice each term, at 5.30pm on a Tuesday (although this could change next year depending on the group needs). The next Board Meeting is on Tuesday 17 September at 5.30pm.
Sacramental Program Year 3 – Reconciliation
Preparation will begin shortly for Year 3 students who would like to prepare for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Home programs will be distributed after the Year 3 Family Mass on Sunday week, 15 September.
Music Showcase
Kindy, Pre-primary, Year 3 and Year 6 classes performed at Assembly last Thursday showcasing their Music learning. The Year 6 students entertained us with their skilful rhythm to ‘Uptown Funk’, Year 3 students played the recorder (slowly and then quickly!) and the Kindy and Pre-primary students sang a beautiful rendition of ‘Alleluia’ with actions. See their smiling faces in the photo gallery. Well done to all of our students, and congratulations to Miss Barbera, our Music teacher!
Swimming Lessons
Swimming lessons will be held next term. We have been informed that the small pool is closed for repairs during the time of our lessons, with platforms in the 50m pool being installed for the younger students. We have decided not to take Pre-primary students to swimming lessons this year due to the limited appropriate space for their age group. Hopefully we will be able to take Pre-primary students again next year. A credit will be made for the fees for 2020.
Optiminds
Three teams of students, from Year 4, 5 and 6, have been working hard to prepare for the Optiminds challenge at Leschenault Catholic Primary School next Saturday morning. They will showcase their creative and critical thinking skills against teams from other schools. Good luck!
Year 6 Camp
Wishing our Year 6 students a wonderful time on camp next week. They are heading to Perth, stopping at Kings Park and Scitech on the way to Ern Halliday Sport and Recreation Campsite at Hillarys. They will enjoy abseiling, pump bikes, archery, orienteering, surf lifesaving, big swing, crate climb, and other team building and adventure activities. We look forward to hearing all about it on their return.
Open Morning and MJR Assembly
Please note that our Open Morning will be held this Thursday 5 September. Parents and grandparents can visit classrooms when they drop children at school, until 9.45am when we will hold our MJR Assembly. There will be a cup of tea on offer for parents outside the hall during the Open Morning.

Faction shirts
Please check faction shirt sizes and if you need a new faction shirt, please order before 9th September so we can get them in time for our Sports Carnival, which is the first week back next term. We have limited sizes in stock, so it is best to check now. Remember we have our Faction Fun Day on Friday 20 September.
OLOL Centenary
The first filming day for interviews of past students and community members will be held on Saturday 21 September. It is anticipated that the interviews will be shown on the screens in classrooms during the Centenary celebrations next year.
We hope all our Dads, Grand-fathers and fathering figures in our community had a wonderful Father’s Day.
