We ask your blessing Lord, on this third term.
As we begin, we start planning, preparing,
sharing, talking, helping, caring,
working together with our students in mind,
supporting each other for the good of all.
Give us energy and satisfaction, sensitivity and friendship.

We ask your blessing Lord, on our children and our community.
Listening, teaching, guiding, inspiring,
enjoying learning, involving our families, celebrating diversity.
Give us warmth and encouragement, empathy and understanding.

God – Bless us with the power of your holy presence in our school.
Jesus – Bless us with the skills of your teaching in our classrooms.
Holy Spirit – Bless us with the fire of love and energy of wind so that throughout this term
we work together to build the Kingdom of God in our homes and our school.

Dear Parents and Community Members,

Welcome back to school after the holiday.  I hope you had a good break with your families.  Welcome to Lucca and Elena Kuehnapfel who commenced in our Year 2 and PP classes today.  Welcome to Jayden Fenn, who commenced today in Year 3 and welcome to Charlize and Abby, who are starting in Pre-Kindy tomorrow.  We hope you all enjoy lots of fun and learning and make many new friends at our lovely school.  We are happy to have you with us.

This term we will be re-starting many activities including Assemblies and Sacramental Programs.

We said goodbye to Spencer Grace and his family at the end of last term, as the family moved to Kojonup.  We wish them well in their new home and school.

Reports were made available to parents on the last day of Term 2.  Please celebrate successes with your children, and look for areas to work on for second semester.  If you have any questions regarding your child’s progress, please make an appointment to see the classroom teacher.  If you are having technical difficulties accessing your report, please contact the office.

Our School Board meets again on Tuesday 28 July at 5.30pm in the school staff room.

The Bull and Barrel Festival due to be held in October has been cancelled for this year.

Everyone is invited to attend P&F meetings to be part of decision making regarding ways to support school initiatives.

Next P&F meeting is Tuesday 4 August at 9.00am, all are welcome.

 Term 3 Calendar

Please keep this as a guide to keep you informed about some exciting events coming up this term, including Book Week assembly and Year 6 Camp.  Please note that if any dates change, the newsletter will have updates, as will the school managed Facebook page.  The Term 3 calendar is also on the school website, Facebook page and a link is available through this newsletter.

First Holy Communion

This will be celebrated for our Year 4 students and three Year 5 students on Sunday 2 August at 10.30am.  Please pray for these students as they prepare for this important step in their faith journey.

Car park procedures

Thank you for the feedback you sent with regard to the car park procedures last term.  As a result of your feedback, we have decided to continue with ‘Kiss and Drop’ in the main car park in the mornings, Mondays to Thursdays.  Students will be greeted and supervised from their cars to the school gate in the mornings and will make their way independently to their classrooms, as they were doing last term.  If you would like to park and walk your child to their class, please park in the Church car park and walk to class, as the main car park will not be available for parking in the mornings.

In the afternoons, the main front car park will be available for parking.  Parents will be able to walk in to the school to wait for students outside their classrooms.  In-car pick-up will still be available near the Church, and students from Kindy, Pre-primary, Year 1 and Year 2 will be able to use this service as well as the older students.

Due to the recommencement of Assemblies and Lapping Legends on Fridays (beginning Week 2), the front car park will be available for parking on Friday mornings and will not be available for ‘Kiss and Drop’.

At the moment, we request that parents do not enter classrooms in the mornings to allow for the morning class routines to continue like last term.

Lapping Legends
We are excited to re-start our Friday morning Lapping Legends, starting in Week 2.  Thank you to the wonderful parents who lead this initiative for our students.  Please note there will be NO Lapping Legends in Weeks 5, 6 and 7 due to Pupil Free Day, Book Week Assembly and Father’s Day Breakfast.  All welcome to come along and run or walk a few laps.

Choir Assembly
Our Choir students, led by Miss Barbera, will present the first Assembly for this term, on Friday 31 July.  They sound like a choir of angels!

Second Hand Uniforms

There are many second hand uniforms in good condition available at very low prices.  Please see the Facebook uniforms page for more information or drop in to the uniform shop on Friday mornings.

Year 6 Camp and Year 5 Camp

Our Year 6 students are heading to Perth on September 8 for their camp.  Activities include Kings Park visit, Scitech, Team Building, Indoor climbing, Caving, Crate climb/big swing, Archery, Abseiling, Flying Fox, Fremantle prison tour and other activities.  Year 5 students will have an overnight surf camp in Term 4, where the emphasis will be on leadership skills and activities, as well as an MJR focus, where they will engage in a surfing opportunity to assist in their understanding that there are many ‘God Moments’ in our lives.

Keeping Safe: Child Protection Curriculum
In Week 7 this term, on Tuesday 1 September, we will be holding a parent information meeting to inform parents about ‘Keeping Safe’ the Child Protection Curriculum that is delivered to students at our school.  This will begin at 5.30pm, and will go for under an hour, followed by the P&F Meeting at 6.00pm, for anyone who chooses to stay.  I have been sharing some information with you through the last few newsletters and will continue to do this in the next few newsletters.  Please click here for Focus Area 3 Parent Tip Sheet.
