Confirmation Prayer for our students

Each moment of your life,
may you feel the Lord’s embrace.
May you sense his guiding presence
in each challenge that you face.
May His peace and light be with you
and may you realise how deeply
loved and precious you are
within His eyes.

Dear Parents and Community Members,

Congratulations to our ‘newly Confirmed’ students: Matthew, Indi, Olivia, Freya, Ashli, Keira, Riley V, Isla and Michaela.  Unfortunately, Izhaak was sick and not able to be there on the day. We pray that God will continue to guide and bless you in your lives, as you take this important step in your faith journey.  See photos in gallery.

Preparation for this Sacrament for Year 3 students will commence on Saturday 29 August with the Enrolment and Commitment Mass and distribution of Home Programs, commencing at 6.00pm in the Church.  All who are interested in being part of this Sacramental preparation program are required to attend.

Students from Years 4-6 attended Mass last Friday to recognise the Assumption of Mary into Heaven.

Book Week

Next Friday 28 August we have our Book Week Assembly.  This year, the theme is ‘Curious Creatures, Wild Minds.’  We look forward to seeing the creativity of our students displayed in their choice of book character costumes.  There will be a costume parade at Assembly on Friday morning.  If the weather is fine, the parade will be held on the basketball courts so parents can attend.  If the weather is not kind to us on the day, we request that parents do not attend due to COVID restrictions.  Thank you for understanding, you will be informed closer to the date.

P&F Meeting

Next meeting is Tuesday 1 September at 6.30pm, in the Staff Room and via Zoom.

Our annual Disco will be held this Thursday 20 August.  Click here for flyer with times for different year groups.  Looking forward to seeing our students in their pyjamas ready to dance and have fun with their friends.

Father’s Day

We would like to have a raffle for Father’s Day and are currently seeking donations for raffle prizes.

We are also seeking donations of eggs for the Father’s Day breakfast.

If you are able to donate something please contact the office.  The Father’s Day breakfast will be held on Friday 4 September at 7.30am.  A note will be coming home with students today to return to indicate attendance and give us an idea for catering purposes. (Click here for a copy of the note)

School Board Meeting

Next meeting will be on Tuesday 15 September at 5.30pm.

Sports Carnival and Swimming Dates for Your Diary

Please note that our school Sports Carnival will be held on Friday 16 October, the first Friday of Term 4, and our Interschool Carnival will be held on Friday 30 October, two weeks later.  Swimming lessons commence Monday 9 November and conclude Friday 20 November (Weeks 5 & 6, Term 4).

Enrolment for Three year old Kindergarten for next year

If you have a child who is turning 3 between now and the end of the year, or before the 30 June next year, they are able to be in our Pre-Kindergarten class for next year.  Please contact the office for an enrolment form, or spread the word to family and friends.  Please note that enrolment in our three year old program is independent of our regular Kindergarten program.

If you would like to purchase girls shorts to wear as part of the summer uniform, please let the office know as soon as possible.  Please note that these items are not kept in stock and must be ordered.  There are samples in the uniform shop to try on for sizing, if needed.  Some items are difficult to source at the moment due to difficulties with supply.

Pupil Free Day/Parent-Teacher Interviews

Please note this Friday 21 August is a Pupil Free Day.  Students do not attend school on this day.  Parent-Teacher interviews are being held from 8.30-4.30pm.  If you need to bring your child when you come for your interview, supervision will be provided in the hall for the duration of your interview.

Device Planning Survey

Thank you to those who completed the device planning survey that was emailed to parents last week.  We have decided to re-run the Parent Information Session that was held at the end of last term on Tuesday 22 September at 6.30pm.  A Zoom option will be available.  We are working with CEWA consultants on a planning process to support the school learning program.

Parish Soup/Casserole Night

The next Parish Soup/Casserole Night will be held this weekend, Saturday 22 August, in the Thomas Little Memorial Hall, straight after the 6.00pm Mass.  All are welcome.

Congratulations to Lauren Bayliss, Year 6, on her selection to participate in the BEST Program (Bunbury Excellence in Sport Training) at Bunbury High school next year.

Congratulations to Izhaak Amat for receiving an Indigenous Bursary for BCC for next year.

Keeping Safe Child Protection Curriculum Parent Information Meeting

Please mark in your diaries Tuesday 1 September at 5.30pm for an information session regarding the Child Protection Curriculum delivered at our school.  Please note this meeting is just before the P&F Meeting.  Refreshments will  be available between meetings.

Bus Bay Parking

There are three car parking bays directly behind the school bus bays.  At the moment they are marked as car bays, and the signage supports this.  Unfortunately this has led to some confusion regarding parking in these bays.  Please note that these bays are unavailable for parking from 7.30-9.00am, and 2.30-4.00pm.  They are needed to enable three buses to fit at the same time to safely load students in the afternoons.  The sign will be changed by the Dardanup Shire in the coming weeks.

Have a wonderful week.

May God bless you

Mrs Angela Hegney

Book week 2020

Due to COVID19, the Children’s Book Council has delayed their celebration until October. However, because of our Term Four commitments, we have decided to continue to celebrate Book Week in August. Our date for the Book Week Dress Assembly up is Friday 28 August. The theme is ‘Curious Creatures, Wild Minds’.

Have fun planning costumes – remember characters must be in a book – and as always Thank you for your support of your children.

Harvey Dental Mobile is leaving !!!!!

Dear Parents/Carers:

After a successful relocation to the Dardanup stop located at the Dardanup Primary school, we have to say farewell. The dental van is relocating to the Djidi Djidi Primary School located at 23 Erica Entrance, Glen Iris 6230 at the end of term 3. If you have enrolled your children with Dental Health Services and haven’t received a dental appointment please call us and book an appointment promptly as we still have spots available. If you attend your private dental practitioner on regular basis an appointment is not needed.

Even though we are relocating to the Bunbury area you can always contact the dental van on 0417 291 951 if you have any questions or concerns. We would like to express our gratitude to all the wonderful staff and the schools involved for all the support and appreciation. Also a massive thank you to all the wonderful parents /carers for actively enrolling and participating in your children’s Dental Health.

Looking forward to seeing you soon.

Kind Regards
