A Father’s Day Prayer
God our Father in heaven,
Bless all the fathers in the world.
We ask that you guide them
to be good role models and loving to their children.
We also ask that you help them to be a father like you are.
Give them grace and patience to handle situations in a loving way.
Dear Parents and Community Members,
Book Week – Curious Creatures, Wild Minds
Last Friday we celebrated Children’s Book Council of Australia ‘Book Week’. Students had the opportunity to dress as a book character to showcase a range of books, old and new for a parade during our morning Assembly. The sun was shining and we were lucky enough to be able to have our Assembly outside. We are constantly amazed at the creativity and ingenuity of our parents and students in the representation of characters. See photos in gallery. Also, our library display is outstanding. Special thanks to our ‘library team’ (Mrs Stenhouse, Mrs Sarre and Mrs Boucher) assisted by Mrs Brady, Mrs Sabatino and Mrs Trigwell. I recommend that you have a look! See photos of the library in the gallery as well.
Our next meeting is this evening at 6.30pm in the Staff Room. We are also offering the option to attend remotely via Zoom. All welcome. Please call the school office for a meeting code if you would like to ‘zoom’ in.
The Disco was a fabulous night with three age-groups to cater for all of our students. Our Pre-Kindy students enjoyed themselves as much as our senior students. Special thanks to our P&F for all their work to make this such a successful activity for our students.
The Father’s Day breakfast is coming up this Friday and we can’t wait to have our Dads and Kids attend. Due to COVID-19 restrictions on numbers, we will be having our breakfast in the undercover area, rather than the school hall. It is very cold in the mornings, so please make sure you wear something warm. Thank you to those who volunteered to donate eggs. Please can you bring them to the office by Thursday. There will be a Coffee Van at school on Friday morning for anyone who would like to purchase a coffee. Dads, make sure you are ready for a quiz. Raffle tickets will be available to purchase on the day, or you can purchase before the day on CDF Pay or from the school office. We are so grateful to our sponsors for donating prizes. We thank our P&F committee and the parent representatives for their organisation of this event.

Keeping Safe: Child Protection Curriculum Parent Meeting
This will be held TODAY Tuesday 1 September at 5.30pm in the School Hall, before the next P&F Meeting. Classroom teachers will be giving examples of the content covered and activities in each year level. Please click here for Focus Sheet 5 Parent Tip Sheet. All parents are welcome. Refreshments will be provided after this meeting, before the P&F Meeting.
Sacramental Program Year 3 – Reconciliation
Preparation has begun for Year 3 students who would like to prepare for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Home programs were distributed at their enrolment Mass last Saturday. Please continue to pray for our students during this time of Sacramental preparation.
Please note that the parent meeting scheduled for tomorrow, 2 September, will now be held on Wednesday 16 September at 2.30pm in the Thomas Little Hall.
Swimming lessons will be held next term in Weeks 5 & 6, Monday 9 November to Friday 20 November for students in Years 1-6.
Three teams of students, from Year 4, 5 and 6, have been working hard to prepare for the Optiminds challenge this year. Unfortunately the format has been changed this year and we filmed their presentations rather than perform in front of other schools. We have uploaded the videos and now await the results. Good luck!
Year 6 Camp
Wishing our Year 6 students a wonderful time on camp next week. They are heading to Perth, stopping at Kings Park and Scitech on the way to Ern Halliday Sport and Recreation Campsite at Hillarys. They will enjoy abseiling, pump bikes, archery, orienteering, surf lifesaving, lost pilot, big swing, crate climb, and other team building and adventure activities. We look forward to hearing all about it on their return.
Open Morning, MJR Assembly and Mercy Afternoon
Please note that our Open Morning will be held on Thursday 24 September. Parents and grandparents can visit classrooms when they drop children at school, until 9.45am when we will hold our MJR Assembly. There will be a cup of tea on offer for parents outside the hall during the Open Morning. During the afternoon, students will be involved in activities exploring Mercy values and traditions.
Please check faction shirt sizes and if you need a new faction shirt, please order before 10th September so we can get them in time for our Sports Carnival, which is the first week back next term. We have limited sizes in stock, so it is best to check now. Remember we have our Faction Fun Day on Friday 25 September.
Congratulations to Annie and Alex Roberts on the (quick!) and safe arrival of their precious little son, Hugo Stanley, brother for Oscar and Felix. His cousins said, ‘he is so soft!’ He is beautiful!
We hope all our Dads, Grandfathers and fathering figures in our community have a wonderful Father’s Day on Sunday.
Have a wonderful week.
May God bless you
Mrs Angela Hegney
