It is my pleasure to present to you our new Strategic Plan 2019-2021. In an era and industry where nothing stays the same for very long, the past few months has entailed the school’s leadership team, staff and Board reflecting on our progress as a school. We have reviewed feedback from parents as well as the emerging challenges and trends likely to be faced in the future. This reflection suggests there is much to celebrate at Our Lady of Lourdes, but also things we can improve upon.
The Catholic Education Commission of Western Australia (CECWA) Strategic Directions 2019 – 2021 calls on schools to develop a strategy that is Christ-centred, Student focussed and Evidence based. A strategy that is grounded in the context of our Western Australian and local community and the challenges we face, is therefore essential. To this end, Our Lady of Lourdes School is committed to providing enriched learning opportunities which enable every child to develop to their full potential.
This Plan has been informed by the 2008 Melbourne Declaration on Educational Goals for Young Australians which calls all schools to promote equity and excellence and strive for all young Australians to become successful learners; confident and creative individuals and active and informed citizens. Likewise, the Bishops’ Mandate Letter calls us to form young Christian men and women who will ultimately contribute to improving their community. With Christ as our role model, the school strives to maintain a high-quality education that inspires an ongoing love of God and embraces our core values.
Located in the country town of Dardanup, 15 km South East of Bunbury, the school is focused on good teaching and learning and actively uses individual student data to enhance the classroom experience. Students continue to perform well and above those in similar schools. It is our intention that this plan will enable the school to maintain the high esteem in which it is held, in the Dardanup community.
I look forward to working in partnership with parents over the next three years as we embark on this plan.
Mrs Angela Hegney
Principal
